The prostate center Prostatazentrum Dortmund Ost was the 5th center in Germany to be certified by the German cancer society Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft in 2007 already. The center is an important part of the Cancer Centers in the Westphalia clinical center Klinikum Westfalen, the first certified cancer center in North Rhine Westphalia.

As one of the big European centers, our prostate center features the entire range of clinical diagnostics, therapy, and follow-up care of prostate affections. An interdisciplinary team of urologists, radio-oncologists, oncologists, radiologists, and psycho-oncologists ensure medical care at the highest stage. Our patients benefit from state-of-the-art medical equipment as well as from our physicians’ experience and skills. Our urology head physician, Dr. R. Thiel, was trained at the renowned Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA by Dr. Patrick C. Walsh.

Besides treatment of benign prostate enlargement by means of state-of-the-art laser and resection techniques, our center is specialised in particular in prostate cancer treatment, owing to innovative robot-assisted surgical techniques (da Vinci).

By now, the urologic hospital in the Klinikum Westfalen/Knappschaftskrankenhaus has an excellent international reputation, attracting many patients from abroad. Every year, our center treats a large number of patients coming from Europe, Russia, and overseas.
